By Belize Live News Staff: Moisture in the atmosphere continues to dominate Belize’s weather pattern, keeping conditions cloudy and unstable heading into the weekend.
Today’s forecast calls for showers and isolated thunderstorms across central and northern regions, with rainfall gradually shifting to the south tonight. The National Meteorological Service has issued an Excessive Rainfall Watch, citing the influence of an upper-level trough that could produce 3 to 4 inches of rainfall within the next 36 hours.
The warning is particularly urgent for residents living in low-lying and flood-prone communities, who are advised to stay alert and follow updates from the National Hydrological Service regarding possible flood risks.
Marine conditions are forecasted to be choppy with 3 to 4-foot waves, driven by moderate east-northeast winds at 5 to 15 knots. Temperatures will remain warm, with highs of 93°F inland, 88°F along the coast, and 82°F in the hills.
The extended outlook for Saturday and Saturday night suggests cloudy skies and showers persisting across much of the country, signaling continued wet conditions.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for heavy downpours and remain cautious of flash flooding and localized hazards.
