By Belize Live News Staff: Leader of the Opposition Tracy Taegar Panton has called on United Democratic Party (UDP) supporters to ensure that their voices are heard as caretaker conventions begin across the country.
In a social media post this morning, Panton reminded UDP supporters that while the decision to hold caretaker conventions in only 18 of the 26 constituencies appears to contradict the Party’s Constitution, the process is moving forward ahead of the National Convention set for the end of November.
She urged supporters to rally behind candidates who represent change, saying that the party cannot continue doing the same things and expect different results. Panton also cautioned that “a lot of mischief is afoot” and encouraged supporters not to be distracted by noise or by those seeking to erode the party’s foundation.
Panton expressed hope that today’s convention in the Fort George Division, as well as others to follow, will proceed without incident. She prayed for a peaceful, fair process and reaffirmed her commitment to building a “united and strong UDP.”
