By Belize Live News Staff: Tragedy struck early Monday morning, July 28, 2025, when Police Constable Arcenio Cus lost his life in a road traffic accident between miles 6 and 7 on the Phillip Goldson Highway. The incident occurred around 1:25 a.m., prompting an immediate response from Ladyville Police.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a motionless male lying on the highway. He was later identified as 38-year-old PC Arcenio Cus, a resident of Silver Creek Village and a serving member of the Belize Police Department.
Initial investigations reveal that PC Cus was traveling from Ladyville toward Belize City on his black motorcycle when a black vehicle reportedly entered his lane and collided with him. The impact caused Cus to lose control of the motorcycle, resulting in severe injuries to his head and lower abdomen. The motorcycle sustained minor damage to the front and side.
Scenes of Crime personnel processed the area and gathered useful information. A sketch plan was drawn, and the body of PC Cus was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:57 a.m..
The investigation remains ongoing.
