By Belize Live News Staff: Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde says he does not support the recent attack ads aimed at union leaders, which have been appearing nightly on local media and social platforms. The ads, reportedly funded by the ruling party or its affiliates, have drawn sharp criticism from the NTUCB, which condemned the campaign and called for an immediate end.
In response, DPM Hyde stated that while he is not behind the ads, he has made it clear that these personal attacks are unhelpful and counterproductive. “We really don’t support that kind of stuff,” Hyde said. “We are about getting results, talking constructively, respecting each other, and staying focused on the issues.”
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that entering into personality attacks takes away from the real work that needs to be done. He said he had communicated this stance to colleagues from the joint unions and reaffirmed his commitment to negotiating in good faith.
