Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms expected across Belize today

Cloudy skies and showers continue across Belize on Thursday

By Belize Live News Staff: A moist and unstable air mass remains over Belize, bringing another day of gloomy skies and periods of rain.

The National Meteorological Service has forecast mostly cloudy to overcast conditions, with showers and thunderstorms anticipated across much of the country. The unsettled weather pattern is being closely monitored, as the potential for excessive rainfall continues.

An Excessive Rainfall Watch remains in place for the entire country. With saturated grounds and more rain in the forecast, residents in vulnerable areas are advised to take precautions against flash floods and rising water levels.

Meteorologists have stressed the importance of heeding all weather bulletins and preparing in advance.

Coastal and marine interests are also advised to be on alert. Winds are projected to strengthen from east to southeast, gusting up to 25 knots. Wave heights could rise to between 6 and 8 feet, prompting a Small Craft Caution.

Boaters and fishers are strongly advised to avoid open waters during stormy periods.

Meanwhile, the tropical weather outlook remains relatively quiet, with a low chance of development from a weather disturbance currently moving toward the Bay of Campeche. This system is not expected to intensify before passing near Belize.

No other significant tropical cyclone activity is expected in the Atlantic Basin over the next two days.
