Belize City woman detained after Police seize over 70 pounds of cannabis

By Belize Live News Staff: A 24-year-old woman is in police custody following a major drug bust in Belize City that led to the seizure of over 70 pounds of suspected cannabis.

The operation unfolded around midday on Wednesday, June 25, when police conducted a joint anti-drug operation in the King’s Park area of Belize City. Acting on intelligence, authorities searched a residence where Rebecca Marlene Daniels was present.

During the search, officers discovered a black plastic barrel containing twenty-three parcels of suspected cannabis, each wrapped in transparent plastic. A second container at the location held seven additional parcels, also similarly packaged.

The suspected drugs were weighed and amounted to a total of 70.05 pounds.

Daniels was detained on-site, and the drugs were secured as evidence. Police have not yet indicated whether charges have been formally brought, but investigations are ongoing.
