Public officers to receive retroactive transfer grant payments after government adjustment

Public officers to receive retroactive transfer grant payments after government adjustment

By Belize Live News Staff: The Government of Belize has approved an increase in transfer grant payments for public officers, with retroactive compensation to be provided to those who relocated between 2021 and 2024.

Effective immediately, officers transferred between districts will now receive $1,500, up from $1,200. Officers transferred within the same district will receive $900, up from $600. The Ministry of the Public Service made the announcement through Circular Memorandum No. 39 of 2025.

The circular, signed by Chief Executive Officer Rolando Zetina, confirms that officers who moved during the 2021–2024 period will receive the difference owed based on the updated grant figures. These payments will be processed and issued over the coming weeks.

The new grant amounts stem from an agreement between the Government and the Joint Union Negotiating Team, reflecting the state’s commitment to providing better support and incentives to its public officers.

The Ministry says the decision is a step forward in ensuring fairness and improving conditions for officers serving across Belize. Belize Live News will report any updates on payment timelines or related developments.
