By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Tourism Board says it will focus on three key areas to get tourism growth back on track after a soft summer.
Director of Tourism Evan Tillett said the BTB will continue pushing marketing, developing new air routes and working closely with the private sector.
“It has to be a collaborative effort for us to continue growth in the tourism sector,” he said.
New air access is already on the way. BermudAir launched nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale to Belize City this week, with more US routes to follow in December. Discover Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group, has also confirmed twice weekly flights from Frankfurt starting December 2027, which the BTB sees as a key step in growing European arrivals.
Tillett said early bookings suggest a robust high season, giving the industry a chance to recover some of the ground lost over the past four months.
While arrivals have been down, he said Belize continues to hold its own despite global challenges affecting travel.
