By Belize Live News Staff: A second man has been charged with possession of an article with a blade, arising from the same early morning police patrol along the Belize Corozal Road in Orange Walk Town that netted a similar charge against another man.
According to the Belize Police Department, on Saturday, July 12, 2026, at about 1:25 a.m., officers on mobile patrol had their attention drawn to a man walking along the Belize Corozal Road. An officer identified himself, asked the man to stop, and informed him that a search would be conducted for illegal drugs, firearms, or ammunition.
During the search, police said they found a silver kitchen knife with a brown wooden handle in the man’s right pants pocket. He was informed of the offence, cautioned, advised of his constitutional rights, and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station.
At the station, the man was identified as Yolandi Castillo, a 41-year-old Belizean labourer of the Belize Corozal Road, Orange Walk Town. Police measured the knife’s cutting blade in his presence at 4.5 inches, before sealing and labelling it as evidence.
Castillo was formally arrested and charged with the offence of possession of an article with a blade. He was cautioned once more and chose to remain silent.
The charge came out of the same patrol in which a 27-year-old Guinea Grass Village man was also found with a kitchen knife and similarly charged.
As with any criminal matter, Castillo is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
