Orange Walk man faces charges after police find suspected cocaine in bag

By Belize Live News Staff (HP): A routine police patrol in Orange Walk Town resulted in the detention of a man for drug possession and resisting arrest.

Authorities report that on Sunday, April 19, 2026, officers were patrolling San Lorenzo Road when they stopped and searched a man. Inside his bag, they discovered two small zip-lock bags containing a substance suspected to be cocaine.

The man was informed of the offence and placed under arrest, but he reportedly struggled with officers and attempted to flee the scene.

Police managed to restrain him and transported him to the station, where the substance was weighed at 0.5 grams and processed as evidence.

He is currently detained pending charges, as police continue their investigations into the matter.
