Gunman fires through apartment door in Belize City

Shooting

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating an attempted murder after a 23-year-old man was shot Tuesday night at an apartment on Faber’s Road Extension in Belize City.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on March 3, 2026, police received information from the control room reporting that a person had been shot at the Bingo King Apartment building.

Investigators later visited the Accident and Emergency section of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they encountered Kaylen Thompson, a 23-year-old construction worker of Faber’s Road Extension, suffering from apparent gunshot injuries to the body.

Initial investigations indicate that around 9:45 p.m., Thompson and his common-law wife were inside their room with the door closed when an unknown person fired several shots through the door, striking him.

The gunman reportedly fled the area immediately after the shooting.

Crime Scene personnel processed the scene and recovered several expended shell casings. Police have not yet identified a suspect and investigations remain ongoing.
