By Belize Live News Staff: Another potential telecom acquisition has stalled after Central TV & Internet Ltd. announced it has withdrawn from negotiations with Belize Telemedia Limited.
According to the company, discussions had been ongoing for several years under successive BTL boards, reflecting what Central TV described as the strength of its products, services, and workforce. The company said it was prepared to accept a structured payment arrangement that would allow BTL to benefit from the increased revenues generated by consolidation.
Despite this, Central TV said the broader environment surrounding the talks became untenable. The company pointed to media-driven personal and reputational attacks unrelated to the commercial terms of the transaction as the reason it could no longer proceed.
Central TV expressed appreciation for the professionalism shown by BTL’s management throughout the discussions, while acknowledging that the decision was a difficult one.
