ATM and Barton Creek open, cave tubing still on hold

ATM and Barton Creek open, cave tubing still on hold

By Belize Live News Staff: Visitors can explore most of Belize’s archaeological reserves today, but cave tubing at Nohoch Che’en is still off the table.

The Institute of Archaeology of the National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH) says water related tour activities at Nohoch Che’en remain suspended due to elevated river levels.

The Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) and Barton Creek Archaeological Reserves, along with all other reserves across the country, are open to visitors.

The Institute’s latest notice no longer lists any restrictions on the Xunantunich ferry, which had been limited to pedestrians earlier this week.

Tour operators and guides are being urged to take extra care during water activities as river levels continue to settle following heavy rains.

NICH says it will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as conditions change.
