By Belize Live News Staff: Police in Orange Walk are investigating an aggravated assault complaint filed by a Carmelita Village woman who says her brother threatened her with a knife during a domestic dispute. The incident reportedly occurred on the morning of November 26, 2025, at the family’s residence.
According to the statement provided, the woman was outside preparing lunch and cleaning a chicken when her brother approached her and stood uncomfortably close. She placed the knife she had been using on a nearby table, but moments later her brother allegedly grabbed the knife and pointed it toward her. The woman told police he shouted, “I wa kill you!” while holding the weapon inches away.
The report states that she stepped back in fear and attempted to calm him down, asking him to release the knife. Instead, he continued shouting insults before eventually dropping the knife and walking away. The complainant said she felt genuinely threatened and feared the situation could escalate further, leading her to immediately seek police assistance.
Authorities recorded her formal statement, and the matter is now under review. Police have not yet indicated whether the brother has been located or detained for questioning, but the case remains open as further steps are being taken.
