Thieves steal entire vault from Dangriga Sub-Treasury

By Belize Live News Staff: The Government Sub-Treasury on St. Vincent Street in Dangriga was burglarized overnight in a daring theft that left employees stunned when they arrived at work this morning. According to early information, the culprit or culprits removed the entire vault from the building, leaving behind clear signs of a forced entry.

Staff immediately contacted police upon discovering that the vault was missing. The incident closely mirrors a similar burglary at the same office last year, when thieves stole nearly $40,000 in cash. That case prompted calls for improved security at the Sub-Treasury, but this latest break-in suggests that vulnerabilities remain.

Police investigators are now on-site, collecting evidence and attempting to determine how the vault was removed and whether the theft involved multiple individuals and a vehicle. The investigation is active, and additional updates will follow.
