By Belize Live News Staff: A Belizean national identified by U.S. authorities as an undocumented immigrant is now in federal custody following his arrest in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The capture was confirmed by U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory K. Bovino, who publicly highlighted the operation on social media. According to Bovino, the man is suspected of a long-running crime spree in the Charlotte area, including multiple vehicle and residential break-ins dating back to 2015.
Authorities also revealed that the suspect had a prior arrest for robbery involving a firearm or dangerous weapon—an offense that placed him on the radar of federal enforcement teams.
Commander Bovino emphasized that the arrest is part of “Operation Charlotte’s Web,” a sweeping enforcement initiative targeting undocumented immigrants with serious criminal histories. The goal, officials say, is to bolster public safety by removing individuals deemed high-risk offenders.
“You’ll be happy to know we arrested him & will be sending him back to HIS country,” Bovino stated in his announcement.
Following the conclusion of any local charges or criminal proceedings, the Belizean national will immediately face deportation proceedings. Federal authorities have characterized the arrest as a significant success in their expanded campaign to identify, apprehend, and remove undocumented individuals involved in criminal activity.
