By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect a mix of sunshine and patchy clouds today as a moist easterly airflow continues to influence local weather conditions. The National Meteorological Service advises that while showers and thunderstorms will generally be isolated, there is a medium chance of increased activity over inland areas later this afternoon and over southern Belize during the night.
The 24-hour forecast calls for mostly sunny conditions across the country, with brief cloudy intervals. The prevailing moist air supports the possibility of convective activity, particularly in areas away from the coast. Tonight, conditions will remain partly cloudy, with a few showers expected mainly over southern regions.
Temperatures remain on the warm side. Inland regions will see highs of 92°F, while coastal areas are forecast to hit 87°F. Cooler conditions will prevail in the hills, where temperatures are expected to reach 81°F. Overnight temperatures will dip to 73°F inland, 80°F along the coast, and 68°F in higher elevations.
At sea, east-northeast winds will blow between 10 to 20 knots. The sea state is moderate but is expected to become light chop later in the day. Wave heights are forecast between 4 to 6 feet, reducing to 2 to 4 feet as conditions ease.
Meanwhile, in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Dexter continues to spin well away from the region. Located approximately 655 miles south-southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, the system poses no direct threat to Belize at this time.
Thursday’s forecast shows partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the morning and a few more developing over northern and central districts later in the day and into the night.
Sunrise occurred at 5:33 AM and sunset is expected at 6:23 PM. The moon will rise this afternoon at 4:37 PM. Today’s tides include highs at 7:21 AM and 9:17 PM, and a low at 3:13 PM.
