By Belize Live News Staff: Public Service Minister Henry Charles Usher says he has complied with the Integrity Commission requirements, but his statement is now raising wider questions about whether other elected officials have done the same.
Usher confirmed that he submitted his declaration on time, noting that Integrity Commission filings are due annually by March 1st. These filings include sworn declarations of assets, income, and liabilities, which are required by law for public officers and elected representatives.
According to Usher, the law extends beyond ministers to include town and city councilors, members of the Senate, and their families. He emphasized that these requirements are part of good governance and are intended to ensure accountability among those holding public office.
He also pointed out that in the past, some individuals failed to submit their declarations on time and were forced to request extensions. Usher expressed hope that all officials will adhere to the regulations moving forward and submit their filings within the required timeframe.
His remarks come amid growing public interest in transparency and compliance among Belize’s political leaders.
