By Belize Live News Staff: Unsettled weather continues over Belize as a tropical wave moves across the region, bringing overcast skies, showers, and isolated thunderstorms throughout the day.
The National Meteorological Service is reporting that the heaviest rainfall will initially impact southern and coastal areas before spreading further inland as the day progresses. Conditions are expected to remain wet into the night and through Friday.
Forecasters say the current conditions are being driven by a moisture-laden tropical wave that is increasing instability over the country.
Winds are from the east to southeast at 10 to 20 knots, and seas are moderate to rough with waves ranging from 4 to 7 feet. Small craft operators are urged to proceed with caution.
There are currently no tropical systems threatening the region, with the National Hurricane Center indicating no expected cyclone development over the next two days in the Atlantic Basin. However, the persistent rainfall may cause localized flooding, particularly in southern districts and flood-prone areas.
Temperatures remain typical for the season, with highs around 85 to 87 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and lows dipping to the low 70s inland and mid-70s along the coast.
The weather outlook for Friday calls for more of the same—cloudy skies with more rain and thunderstorms. The first high tide for today was at 10:03 a.m., followed by a low tide at 5:40 p.m., another high tide at 11:49 p.m., and a low tide early Friday at 4:31 a.m. The sun rose at 5:20 a.m. and will set at 6:30 p.m., while the moon is visible from 6:25 a.m. to 8:06 p.m. today.
