By Belize Live News Staff: Belize is laying the groundwork for a cleaner, smarter future — and it starts with transforming how the country moves.
On April 29, 2025, Dr. Louis Zabaneh and his Ministry team welcomed representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to push forward a shared vision of transportation modernization and inclusive national development.
The focus of the meeting was the E-Mobility Pilot Project, which aims to introduce electric transport solutions to reduce Belize’s carbon footprint. But the conversation didn’t stop there — discussions also touched on digital infrastructure, inclusive growth, and innovation across public systems.
With leaders like Mr. Leon Gentle (Chief Transport Officer), Mr. Peter Williams (Deputy Chief), and Ms. Anna Loague (Director of Policy) at the table, Belize is signaling it’s serious about using innovation to drive real-world change.
The collaboration reflects a wider national shift — one that embraces sustainability and resilience, while making sure no Belizean is left behind.
Together, the Ministry and the UNDP are accelerating toward a future where progress is powered by purpose, innovation, and the shared belief that a better Belize is within reach.
