Tracy Taegar Panton warns of chaos as Government remains silent

Tracy Panton demands answers on Belize-U.S. biometric agreement: “Where is the transparency?”

By Belize Live News Staff: Opposition Leader Tracy Taegar Panton has issued a sharp rebuke of both public instigators and the ruling administration, warning of the dangers of unchecked chaos and a distracted populace.

Panton said that while free expression is vital, it must be wielded responsibly, noting that destructive commentary can have dangerous consequences. “Hurt people, hurt people,” she warned, adding that some media outlets seem more interested in sensationalism than nation-building.

Turning her focus to governance, Panton listed several areas where she believes the government is failing: no budget timeline, no accountability for a hijacking involving 14 airline passengers, no answers on post-election pay raises for Cabinet officials, no plans to address rising costs or environmental issues, and no strategies to recover from the recent loss of a $250 million foreign grant.

As economic pressures mount and transparency remains elusive, Panton urged Belizeans not to be distracted. “Stay awake, Belize,” she said, calling for national vigilance, public pressure, and renewed focus on the real issues affecting the country’s future.
