By Belize Live News Staff: In the latest round of high-level appointments under the Briceño Administration, reliable sources confirm that Chandra Nisbet Cansino will be named Chair of the Social Security Board. The move places a seasoned professional with both healthcare and social security experience at the helm of a vital institution.
Cansino, a registered nurse by training, worked for 20 years at the Social Security Board before becoming CEO of the KHMH in 2021. She replaces Nigeli Sosa, who has served as SSB Chair since late 2020.
Her leadership comes at a time when the SSB is expected to steady itself following shifts at the KHMH, including the abrupt termination of former CEO Leroy Almendarez earlier this year.
