Cloudy skies and coastal rain continue across Belize

Moist and unstable conditions expected as tropical wave moves across Belize

By Belize Live News Staff: Moist and unstable weather remains over Belize, bringing cloudy spells and scattered showers to many parts of the country on January 3, 2025. According to the Belize Meteorological Service, a few showers or periods of rain are expected today, mainly along the coast, while tonight, rainfall activity will shift toward southern areas.

Marine conditions are moderately rough, with north-northeast winds blowing at 5-15 knots and wave heights ranging from 4 to 6 feet. Mariners and small craft operators are advised to proceed with caution as moderate sea conditions prevail.

Temperatures today will be on the cooler side. Coastal regions will see daytime highs of 80°F (27°C) and nighttime lows of 72°F (23°C). Inland areas will peak at 82°F (28°C) during the day, cooling to 68°F (20°C) overnight. The hills will experience cooler conditions, with highs of 70°F (21°C) and lows dipping to 63°F (17°C).

The outlook for Saturday indicates continued cloudy spells with showers persisting over southern areas throughout the day and night. These conditions are expected to linger as moist weather continues to influence the region.

Tides for today include a low tide at 6:51 AM, a high tide at 12:57 PM, another low tide at 6:18 PM, and a high tide early tomorrow morning at 12:25 AM. Sunrise was at 6:23 AM, and sunset is expected at 5:30 PM. The moon rose at 9:29 AM and will set tonight at 9:19 PM.

Forecaster Francisca Wellington advises residents in coastal and southern areas to stay prepared for periodic rain and cloudy conditions. Outdoor activities should be planned with caution, particularly in areas prone to flooding or where rain is expected to intensify.
