Belize Port Authority announces passenger fee adjustment for water taxi services starting January 2025

By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Port Authority (BPA) has announced an adjustment to passenger user fees for water taxi services, set to take effect on January 1, 2025. The fee will increase to $3.00 per passenger for fares exceeding $10.00 but under $100.00, in compliance with the Water Taxi (Amendment) Regulations, SI No. 129 of 2022.

This adjustment comes after the BPA temporarily reduced the fee to $2.00 during the COVID-19 pandemic to support operators and passengers. With the economy showing signs of recovery, the BPA has decided to revert to the original fee structure.

According to the BPA, this fee adjustment is essential to maintaining the safety, security, and overall quality of maritime services in Belize. The Authority emphasized its commitment to improving the experience for both water taxi users and operators.

Passengers are advised that the revised fee will be applied to all ticket purchases starting January 1, 2025.

For additional information or inquiries, individuals can contact the Belize Port Authority via their official communication channels.
