By Belize Live News Staff: A 24-year-old Belize City man, Shane Bradley, has been sentenced to eight weeks in prison after pleading guilty to charges of aggravated assault and damage to property. The incident occurred at Wesley College, where Bradley assaulted a teacher and caused property damage during a heated argument about a student’s academic performance.
The altercation took place on October 30, 2024, when Bradley accompanied the mother of a student to collect a report card. According to the teacher, Cindy Rowland, Bradley became aggressive during the discussion, kicking a chair and attempting to throw it at her. The chair was blocked by others nearby, but Bradley went on to break a double window during the outburst.
Following the incident, police reviewed surveillance footage from the school and arrested Bradley on December 21. In court, Bradley initially disputed aspects of the charges, denying the assault on the teacher. However, after reviewing the facts, he admitted guilt and requested leniency, citing his responsibilities as the sole provider for his children.
Despite his plea, the Magistrate sentenced Bradley to six weeks in prison for the assault and an additional two weeks for property damage. The court also took into account Bradley’s prior conviction for violent crimes and the fact that he is awaiting trial for three other violent offenses.
Bradley is now serving his sentence at the Belize Central Prison, where he awaits further legal proceedings related to his pending cases.
