By Belize Live News Staff: A gruesome murder shocked Santa Elena, Cayo, on Wednesday when a woman discovered her mother stabbed to death. The victim, 63-year-old Miriam Castellanos, was found in her home around 1:30 p.m. by her daughter, Donica Urbina, who had come for lunch.
Police reports state that Urbina noticed the gate to her mother’s yard was open upon arrival. Inside, she discovered Castellanos slumped against a sofa, bleeding from multiple stab wounds to the face and neck. Police are investigating the incident and reviewing surveillance footage to identify the intruder.
