Gunman escapes with $1,600 in cash during Belize City robbery

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating a robbery involving an armed assailant that occurred on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

According to the report, the incident took place around 2:45 p.m. at a residence in Belize City. A sales representative had returned home after completing his sales route, carrying approximately $1,600 BZD in cash from the day’s transactions. While waiting on his veranda for his son to arrive home from school, he placed his black Samsonite bag, containing the cash and other valuables, on the railing.

The victim reported that he was approached from behind by a man of dark complexion wearing a T-shirt, short pants, and a motorcycle helmet. The assailant, armed with a firearm, demanded the bag. Fearing for his safety, the victim complied, handing over the bag before the suspect fled the scene.

Police have recorded the victim’s statement, visited the area, and obtained GPS coordinates. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to identify and locate the suspect.
