Xunantunich ferry service limited, all other archaeological sites remain open

Institute of Archaeology confirms sites open, urges caution for visitors

By Belize Live News Staff: The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), through the Institute of Archaeology (IA), has announced that the ferry at Xunantunich is currently operating with restricted capacity, allowing only two vehicles to cross at a time.

Visitors planning to explore the Xunantunich archaeological site are advised to take this into consideration and adjust their schedules accordingly.In positive news, all other archaeological reserves, including cave sites, are fully open and accessible. The IA has confirmed that these sites are operating as usual and encourages the public to enjoy the country’s rich cultural heritage.

The IA/NICH is closely monitoring the situation at Xunantunich and will issue updates as necessary. Travelers are urged to stay tuned to official communications for any changes.
