Accused armed robber denied bail, remains in custody

Belize City mother hospitalized with severe injuries after son's attack

By Belize Live News Staff: A 24-year-old man, Tyrese Usher, has been remanded to prison until September 30th after being charged with the armed robbery of a truck driver on Central American Boulevard. The incident occurred last Wednesday as the truck driver was making a delivery.

Two men on a motorcycle approached the truck and, brandishing a firearm, demanded the driver’s money bag. The bag contained a significant sum – approximately $8,000 in cash and a cheque valued at $25,000.

Following the robbery, police utilized surveillance footage to identify Usher as one of the suspects. He was apprehended the same day. However, his accomplice remains at large.

Usher appeared in court on Tuesday morning, represented by attorney Leroy Banner. Despite pleading not guilty to the charge of robbery, he was denied bail due to the serious nature of the crime, which involved the use of a firearm.

The police are continuing their investigation and are seeking the second suspect involved in the robbery.
