Belize joins Caribbean Community in mourning Ambassador Lorne McDonnough

By Belize Live News Staff: The Caribbean Community (CARICOM), of which Belize is a member, is mourning the loss of Ambassador Lorne McDonnough, CD, who passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Ambassador McDonnough’s contributions to the Caribbean region were significant, notably serving as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF). His leadership in this role facilitated financial and technical assistance to those most in need within the Community.
His diplomatic career also saw him represent Jamaica on both the hemispheric and international stages, showcasing his dedication to service and diplomacy.
Ambassador McDonnough’s extensive expertise was instrumental in furthering regional integration efforts, and his loss is felt deeply across the Caribbean.
Belize joins CARICOM in expressing sincere condolences to his wife, family, the Government of Jamaica, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of service and commitment to the region will be remembered.
