Belize City launches E-taxis as part of smart transportation push

By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize City Council has unveiled four new electric taxis as part of its Smart City initiative, marking another major step toward greener, safer, and tech-driven public transportation.

Mayor Bernard Wagner said the project complements the earlier launch of electric buses and aims to reduce emissions, noise, and pollution. The $223,000 investment was sourced through a bank loan that has already been repaid.

Using the “Mi Driva” app, riders will soon be able to book E-Taxi rides with ease, including cashless payment options and real-time driver tracking. The service is expected to be fully operational by the end of the week.
