UDP shuts down Wave Radio show after Shyne and Noble clash on air

By Belize Live News Staff: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has suspended its morning radio and TV show, Fus ting da Mawnin, following a heated on-air confrontation between Shyne Barrow and show host Alfonso Noble. The clash, broadcast live on Wave Radio and TV on Thursday, exposed deep internal divisions within the party and prompted immediate action by Acting Chairman Alberto August.

In a letter addressed to Alfonso Noble and co-host Joe Bradley, August described the show as having become “fertile grounds for the propagation of disunity,” warning that the public spectacle threatens to create “wounds that will become uncurable.” The decision to suspend the program was framed as necessary to allow party leaders to focus on rebuilding and unification efforts.

The dramatic exchange between Barrow and Noble was sparked by the controversial expulsion of UDP member Tracy Taegar Panton. Noble criticized the decision on air, calling it a breach of natural justice and accusing party leadership of running a “dictatorship.”

Barrow pushed back forcefully, accusing Noble and others of clinging to outdated entitlements. “If you do not abide by the constitution then you don’t belong to be a member,” Barrow retorted, also referencing past personal attacks he claims to have endured from Noble on the same platform.

The confrontation escalated until Noble received a direct message from Hugo Patt, instructing him to shut the show down mid-broadcast.

The UDP, already navigating a delicate phase of reorganization, now finds itself facing questions about internal discipline, leadership credibility, and party unity—just as it attempts to regroup ahead of village council elections.
