By Belize Live News Staff: St. John’s Credit Union (SJCU) is pushing back against recent social media posts that allege funds were wrongfully removed from a member’s account, calling the accusations “baseless, malicious, and defamatory.”
In a press release issued on April 24, 2025, the financial institution assured members and the general public that SJCU remains a trusted and regulated entity operating under the Credit Union Act and overseen by the Central Bank of Belize.
The credit union emphasized that its financial systems have strict internal controls and audit trails in place to monitor all transactions, and that an internal review of the allegations is currently underway. Preliminary results, according to the release, indicate that the accusations are unfounded and that SJCU’s records can fully verify this.
SJCU reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and financial security, stating that they are cooperating with regulators to establish the facts and protect the integrity of their operations.
