By Belize Live News Staff: Police in Ladyville are investigating a reported burglary at a residence on Old Well Road, where a woman returned from work to find her home ransacked and nearly $3,000 worth of household items stolen.
According to the report made to the Crimes Investigation Branch (CIB) Ladyville, the burglary occurred sometime between April 15 and April 21, 2025. The homeowner, a 47-year-old nurse, told police she had properly secured her home at #25 Old Well Road before leaving for work in San Pedro on April 15. However, upon returning home around 10:50 p.m. on April 21, she noticed that the lock on her back door had been damaged and removed.
Once inside, she discovered several items missing. The thieves gained access through the back door on the southern side of the house and made off with:
A white twin-tub washing machine valued at $450 BZD
A black Mabe stove valued at $325 BZD
Two 50 lb gas tanks valued at $150 BZD each
Three buckets and seven gallons of paint with a combined value of $1,900 BZD
The total estimated loss amounts to approximately $2,975 BZD.
A Scenes of Crime Technician processed the scene and was able to recover one partial fingerprint. Officers canvassed the area and interviewed several individuals, but no useful leads were obtained. No suspects have been detained at this time.
