By Belize Live News Staff: Jamal Hyde was shot on Saturday while sitting in a vehicle outside T&J Supermarket, in what police believe was a targeted retaliation by individuals linked to Ryan Hyde.
Just after noon, Hyde and four others were parked in a black Mazda Tribute when a white Suburban SUV pulled up. A masked man in a long-sleeve shirt exited the SUV and opened fire at close range, striking Jamal in the leg.
Hyde was transported to the Western Regional Hospital and is now in stable condition. The other occupants of the vehicle fled and have not yet been publicly identified.
Security footage reveals the gunman firing point-blank and the car’s occupants desperately escaping, narrowly avoiding more serious injuries.
Police say the motive may stem from a belief that Jamal Hyde was responsible for a prior shooting at Ryan Hyde’s home. The investigation is ongoing.
