By Belize Live News Staff: A wild shootout outside a Belize City nightclub has left one officer injured and a suspect behind bars.
36-year-old Stanley Flowers is facing a slew of charges—including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and use of deadly means of harm—after allegedly opening fire on police outside Fire Nightclub on Sunday night. According to reports, officers approached a man matching the description of an armed suspect. That’s when Flowers allegedly drew his weapon and shot a corporal four times.
The injured officer was rushed to the hospital and has since been released.
But the drama didn’t end there.
Flowers reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle, leading police on a tense chase toward the Sandhill area. He allegedly fired more shots at officers along the highway before they managed to knock him off his bike and take him into custody. A 9mm pistol was recovered.
Flowers was treated at the hospital and is now back in police custody facing serious charges.
