By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Senate is set to welcome six new government senators, as Prime Minister John Briceño has advised Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam to finalize their appointments. The selected individuals are Eamon Courtenay, Christopher Coye, Linsford Castillo, Rozel Arana, Brittney Galvez, and Hector Guerra.
Eamon Courtenay, a Senior Counsel, has been designated as the Leader of Government Business, a position that will see him steering legislative debates and defending government policies in the Upper House. Courtenay’s reappointment signals continuity in the government’s legislative strategy.
Joining him are Christopher Coye, a key figure in economic policy, and four new faces: Linsford Castillo, Rozel Arana, Brittney Galvez, and Hector Guerra. Their appointments reflect a mix of legal, economic, and governance expertise, aimed at strengthening parliamentary discussions.
The official swearing-in will take place during the Senate’s first sitting, the date of which will be announced soon. With these appointments, the government is positioning itself to advance its policy agenda through the legislative process.
