73-year-old man arrested in Orange Walk for possession of crack cocaine

By Belize Live News Staff: A 73-year-old man, identified as Bernard Coleman, has been arrested and charged with drug possession after attempting to flee from police during a patrol in Orange Walk Town.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, police on mobile patrol spotted Coleman, a Belizean laborer of Castillo Alley, Orange Walk Town, riding a bicycle in a suspicious manner along Gravel Lane. When officers attempted to stop him, he sped up but lost control, falling to the pavement.

A search of Coleman led to the discovery of four small pieces of suspected crack cocaine inside a pink plastic bag. He sustained a minor head injury from the fall and was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment before being escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station.

The drugs, which weighed 0.59 grams, were sealed and labeled as evidence.

On March 5, 2025, police formally arrested and charged Coleman with possession of a controlled drug. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
