By Belize Live News Staff: Belizean authorities are investigating the deaths of three American women, originally from Morocco, who were found unresponsive in their hotel room at the Royal Kahal Resort on Coconut Drive in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Imane Mallah, 26-year-old Wafae El-Arar, and 23-year-old Koutar Naqqad. Police were alerted to the scene at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, after receiving a report of three unresponsive individuals in Room 1011.
Upon arrival, officers found one woman lying partially nude on a bed with a white sheet covering her body and a yellowish substance around her mouth. A second woman was found face down near the bathroom, dressed in a leopard-print dress, while the third was discovered near a table, wearing a pink blouse and short pants.
Scenes of Crime personnel processed the scene, and a toxicologist will conduct further tests to confirm the cause of death. Preliminary findings suggest that a drug overdose may have been a factor, though investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
Family members of the victims, who reside in the United States, have contacted authorities seeking information. Police are urging the public to await official updates as the investigation continues.
