By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating an early morning assault and robbery that took place near Pound Yard Bridge, where a construction worker was attacked and robbed of $600 BZD.

The incident occurred between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. as the victim walked along Cemetery Road toward his workplace. Two men approached him and asked, “What’s going on?” When the victim replied that he was fine, one of the men, dressed in a black T-shirt and white pants, punched him in the face and struck him with an object resembling a 9mm firearm, causing two cut wounds above his eye and on his cheek. The second man, wearing brown pants, helped rob the victim of $600 BZD in $50 denominations.

The victim tried to resist but was overpowered as the suspects fled toward the Conch Shell Bay area. Authorities have launched an investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact Belize City Police as they work to identify the suspects and bring them to justice.
