By Belize Live News Staff: The murder of 56-year-old Boris Alexander Mannsfeld, a prominent American real estate developer, has left authorities searching for answers. Mannsfeld was found Friday night at Cocoplum Villas in Maya Beach, shot once in the back of the neck. Police recovered a loaded 9mm pistol, his wallet with cash and ID, and a single spent shell casing near the scene.
Mannsfeld, originally from Colorado, moved to Belize in 2006 and built Boris Mannsfeld & Associates into the largest real estate firm on the Placencia Peninsula. His death is raising suspicions due to his ties to two unsolved murders: former associate Ricardo Borja (Sept. 2023) and cryptocurrency entrepreneur Darren Taylor (April 2024). In a January 2025 email to clients, Mannsfeld alluded to a “massive fraud case” involving stolen assets, money laundering, and multiple countries, while also pursuing a $3.9 million lawsuit against a former business partner.
With no suspects or surveillance footage, police are investigating whether Mannsfeld’s murder is connected to his legal and business disputes or the previous killings. The case has shaken Belize’s expat and real estate communities as they await further developments.
