In her announcement, Vega Samos expressed that her decision was made after listening to her constituents and having heartfelt discussions with her family. “There is an old saying that says ‘you can’t keep a good woman down.’ After carefully listening to my beloved constituents of Corozal Bay and having a heart-to-heart discussion with my family, I have made the decision to offer myself to the people of Corozal Bay as an independent candidate for the upcoming General Elections,” she stated.

Vega Samos highlighted the significance of the upcoming election, noting the rise of non-traditional candidates and emphasizing her belief in the power of the people. “For the first time, many persons have made the decision to contest in ways that are non-traditional. I too believe that my candidacy speaks to my determination to be counted. It speaks of my conviction that the people have the power and the people decide,” she added.

Reflecting on her previous support, Vega Samos emphasized the importance of representing those who stood by her. “I am their voice, I am their hope and without a doubt I am their representative!
