Police take down armed trio in San Pedro jungle camp raid

By Belize Live News Staff: Three men are in police custody following a significant weapons bust in San Pedro, where officers uncovered a cache of firearms and ammunition hidden in a bushy area. The raid was led by Sergeant Devon Makin, the Commissioner of Police’s godson, who has been making waves in the fight against illegal firearms.

The seized weapons included a 9mm pistol with an extended magazine containing 22 rounds, an AR-15 rifle with two magazines holding 51 rounds, and an SG rifle with a magazine carrying 12 rounds. Additional ammunition was also found at the scene.

The suspects, identified as Daniel Lagos (26), Zephaniah Mariano (23), and Zylon Castillo (21), were found at the makeshift camp where the guns were hidden. They have been charged with multiple firearm-related offenses, including possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition, tampering with firearm serial numbers, and possession without a license.

Authorities believe the firearms could be linked to criminal activities, but further investigations will determine their origin and intended use.
