By Belize Live News Staff: Orange Walk police are searching for a man accused of chopping his son with a machete during a family argument over land in August Pine Ridge Village.
The 28 year old complainant told police the incident happened late Thursday night inside his father’s house, located in the same yard as his own.
According to his report, the two were arguing about land the son wanted to give away when the father approached from behind with a machete and swung it at him. The son said a phone flashlight was lighting up the room and no one else was present, so he clearly saw who attacked him.
He blocked the blow with his left hand and was cut. He then ran to his own house and locked himself inside.
Doctors at the Northern Regional Hospital certified the injury as grievous harm.
The man told police this is not the first time his father has threatened him and that he has been fearing for his life. He has asked for court action.
His father is wanted for questioning.
The report comes days after police in the same village detained a man following a separate family altercation involving a machete threat and an injured woman.
