By Belize Live News Staff: Authorities are investigating a late-night shooting on Perez Road, Ladyville, that left 22-year-old Jereld Sutherland hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to initial police reports, around 11:00 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025, Sutherland was riding his 20-inch beach cruiser bicycle along Perez Road when an unidentified gunman, hiding in nearby bushes, opened fire on him. After shooting multiple rounds, the suspect fled into the bushes, evading capture.
CIB personnel visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), where Sutherland was being treated. Investigators recovered several expended shells and blood samples from the crime scene, and a sketch plan was drawn to document the attack.
Police have not yet identified a suspect or motive for the shooting. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
