Kevin Bernard mourns Carmelita murder victim

By Belize Live News Staff: Orange Walk East Area Representative and Minister Kevin Bernard says he is in shock following the brutal killing of a Carmelita Village man.

The man was found dead with chop wounds on Tuesday morning after leaving home the night before, saying he was going to the village football field.

Bernard told CTV3 the man worked closely with him to organize and fund the Mundialito football tournaments in Orange Walk East.

“This is, for me, a sad loss for us in Orange Walk East, for the community,” Bernard said.

He said he and others were already wondering who could step in to run next year’s Mundialito.

Bernard said the man touched the lives of many young people through sports, and asked God to give guidance to his family and the wider community.

“I hope that justice will prevail,” he said.

No arrests have been announced.
