By Belize Live News Staff: A political shake-up is unfolding within the United Democratic Party (UDP) as Elodio Aragon Jr. has officially resigned as the party’s Standard Bearer for Orange Walk East.
Aragon, a former Minister of State and long-time UDP representative, submitted his resignation letter to UDP Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow, stating that his only interest is serving the people of his constituency. However, he indicated that due to the ongoing discord and disunity within the party, he can no longer do so under the present circumstances.
His departure raises major questions about the UDP’s internal stability as the party continues to struggle with internal divisions ahead of the next general elections.
UDP leadership has yet to issue a formal statement on Aragon’s resignation or the implications for the party’s strategy in Orange Walk East.
This is a developing story—Belize Live News will provide further updates as more details emerge.
