Belize deports two Salvadoran gang members wanted for violent crimes

By Belize Live News Staff:  Belize has deported two alleged members of El Salvador’s infamous 10th Gang, Miguel Ángel Leiva and Óscar Francisco Portillo Álvarez, to face justice in their home country. The two men are wanted for a series of violent crimes, including murders and extortion.

The operation, coordinated by Belizean law enforcement and Interpol, underscores the country’s commitment to tackling organized crime and ensuring regional security.

Upon arrival in El Salvador, the men were handed over to Salvadoran authorities, where they are expected to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Belize’s move aligns with its efforts to prevent the proliferation of gang activity within its borders while cooperating with neighboring nations in the fight against transnational crime.

Authorities praised the swift coordination that led to the deportation, emphasizing that Belize remains vigilant in addressing threats posed by foreign criminal elements.
