Housing, corruption, and labor force concerns dominate Opposition agenda

By Belize Live News Staff: The shadow UDP Cabinet has zeroed in on housing policy, corruption, and labor force readiness as key areas for reform during its latest session on January 21. Opposition Leader Shyne Barrow called for innovative housing solutions to benefit the middle class while maintaining support for low-income families.

Concerns were also raised about potential economic and social impacts of U.S. mass deportation policies, with Barrow urging the government to prepare for the addition of deportees to Belize’s labor force. Additionally, the shadow UDP Cabinet pointed out corrupt practices in the Ministry of Agriculture and questionable tenders rushed ahead of elections.

These issues will be addressed further in a press briefing scheduled for next week, where the shadow UDP Cabinet plans to unveil its reform proposals.
