Fair morning turns rainy as showers and thunderstorms develop in Belize

Unsettled weather continues into Christmas night

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can enjoy fair and mostly dry conditions this morning but changes are on the horizon. The Belize Meteorological Service forecasts partly cloudy skies during the morning with little to no rain. By the afternoon, however, cloudy spells will develop, bringing an increase in showers and isolated thunderstorms. Rainfall will begin inland and spread across most areas tonight.

Marine conditions remain moderate, with east-southeast winds blowing at 5-15 knots. Wave heights are expected to range between 4 and 6 feet. Mariners should exercise caution, especially as conditions may become less favorable with the arrival of evening showers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will remain warm and comfortable throughout the day. Coastal regions will see daytime highs of 85°F (29°C) and nighttime lows of 75°F (24°C). Inland areas will peak at 89°F (32°C) and cool to 67°F (19°C) overnight, while the hills will experience highs of 78°F (26°C) and lows of 61°F (16°C).

Looking ahead, Monday and Monday night will bring a mix of isolated showers in the morning and evening, with slightly more rain expected in the afternoon. This suggests a continuation of the changing weather pattern.

Tides for today include a low tide at 7:52 AM, a high tide at 1:38 PM, another low tide at 8:20 PM, and a high tide at 1:53 AM tomorrow. Sunrise was at 6:26 AM, with sunset scheduled for 5:40 PM. The moon set at 10:13 AM and will rise again at 10:45 PM tonight.

Forecaster Francisca Wellington encourages residents and visitors to make the most of the fair weather this morning but advises preparing for showers and potential thunderstorms later in the day. Outdoor activities should be planned accordingly to avoid disruptions from the evening rainfall.
